[Vision2020] Fw: Cartoon from the 1934 Chicago Tribune

The cartoon is no surprise. The Chicago Tribune had a history of being the most conservative (if not reactionary) major papers in the US. Barak Obama was the first Democratic candidate for president they ever endorsed in their long tenure (probably due to new ownership).  They were rabidly anti-Roosevelt, anti-New Deal, anti-labor, the Fox News of their day.  The fact that government spending pulled millions of Amercans out of poverty and despair didn't get in the way of their reporting.

And no, I don't beleve Amity Shales and other revisionists on the New Deal...
