The Chicago Tribune had a history of being the most conservative (if not reactionary) major papers in the US. Barak Obama was the first Democratic candidate for president they ever endorsed in their long tenure (probably due to new ownership). They were rabidly anti-Roosevelt, anti-New Deal, anti-labor, the Fox News of their day.
