Alternative plans?  The Republicans have no alternative plans, valid
or otherwise.  They have been sabotaging any proposed national health
schemes for decades, largely because they are in the pockets of the
insurance companies.  They would use this as another opportunity to
lie and obfuscate, which they already do quite handily without Obama's
help.
