[Vision2020] Press Release from MPD

Beginning June 12th 2009, the Moscow Police Department and other law
enforcement agencies throughout Idaho will step up efforts to reduce
aggressive driving. 

 

According to ITD:

 

"In 2007, aggressive driving was a contributing factor in 54% of all
crashes and 108 fatalities in Idaho. The economic cost of crashes
involving aggressive driving was $1.4 billion dollars.  This represents
49% of the total cost of all crashes in Idaho. Aggressive driving is the
highest single contributing factor in both injury and fatal crashes."  

 

The goal of increasing patrols directed at aggressive driving, is to
reduce motor vehicle crashes, injuries and deaths.

 

The following are some of the violations which may result in a citation
being issued.

 

-Fail to stop at a stop sign: $75

-Speed violations: $75 (16+ mph over $140)

-Failure to yield right of way: $75

-Reckless driving: Misdemeanor

-Disregarding traffic signals or signs: $75

-Failure to stop for pedestrians in a crosswalk: $75
