Greetings Visionaires -
The "Moscow Cares" website has been updated to include videos of the
following segment from yesterday afternoon's Administrative Committee
session.
Draft Ordinance Banning Smoking in Bars
http://www.MoscowCares.com/071309_AD_SmokingBanOrd.htm
Your attention is invited to Parts 2, 3, and 4 where the following local
citizens provide additional commentary.
Mark Delabay (please excuse the spelling) of Third Street Market
Phil Roderick
Norm (no last name or city of residence given)
Matthew Mayer
Bill Parks
Kelby Wilson (ASUI President)
Christine Patterson
Tom Bodie
Robert Bodie
Will Groobye (again, please excuse the spelling)
Stewart Scott

Part 3

Part4

Your attention is also invited to Parts 4 and 5 where . . .
Bill Lambert suggests that smoking should be banned within 20 feet of an
entrance to a bar because, as Councilman Lambert offers "it isn't that
far". Perhaps it isn't that far during the months of June, July, or
August. However, during the months of January and February such a
restriction loses its appeal.
John Weber suggests that bars establish a designated smoking area within
the facility and that this designated smoking area would be restricted to
"customers only", no waiting staff allowed. Hmmm.
Part 5

If this ordinance were to pass, and if my calculations are correct, the
only location, within Moscow's central business district, where smoking
would be permitted would be a strip approximately 6-foot wide and 120-foot
long in Friendship Square commencing at a point 20 feet from the entrance
to The Garden, winding itself and ending in the Jackson Street parking
lot.
Footnote to you smokers: Parking permits go on sale August 1st.
Seeya round town, Moscow.
