And you said it right-misconception.  As a result of that
misconception the Scouts have some rigid rules in place banning
activities that might be viewed as military-such as laser tag,
paintball, and other war type games.  Some claim the Scouts support
gun use.  Again, not true.  You can get all the way through the
program without picking up a gun.  The Scouts do, however, support
firearm education.  They view this education as a form of safety
training.  A youth that knows how to properly handle a weapon is much
less likely to have an accident.

Did you know that the Scouts actually receive a "Charter" every year
from the US Congress to provide an outdoor citizenship development
program?
