University of Idaho plans to cut 41 degree programs

MOSCOW - The University of Idaho says it's closing or consolidating 41 degree 
programs.

The university's president, Steven Daley-Laursen, gave a progress report of 
the University on Tuesday.

"Our commitment is to focus, reduce, consolidate and reposition the 
university's scope so that we may concentrate our time, space and fiscal 
resources toward our true strengths and competitive advantages," 
Daley-Laursen said.

The degree cuts, the president said, would have no immediate effect on 
employment status for faculty or staff members.
