The Idaho Department of Transportation is looking for public input in
regards to integrating bicycle and pedestrian needs into their
planning. This is an opportunity for Moscow residents to make their
thoughts/feelings known. Feel free to pass this on.

>
> BOISE - The Idaho Transportation Department's Division of Public
> Transportation has embarked on an initiative to create Idaho's
> first statewide vision and mobility plan for bicyclists and
> pedestrians.
>
> The Division of Public Transportation wants to identify the most
> preferred approach to building a meaningful and viable bicycle and
> pedestrian environment throughout Idaho, based upon the needs and
> desires of each community.
>
> To help frame that plan, the division asks individuals interested
> in improving the future of bicycle and pedestrian mobility to
> participate in a basic online survey. Responses will be accepted
> through Jan. 31, explains Mark McNeese, Bicycle and Pedestrian
> Coordinator for the Division of Public Transportation.
>
> The survey focuses on non-motorized mobility as an extension of the
> division's effort to coordinate public transportation mobility
> throughout the state, said Randy Kyrias, division administrator.
> "The goal is to provide comprehensive statewide mobility services
> at local, regional or statewide levels where all modes are an
> integrated and well-coordinated component of the transportation
> system."
>
> McNeese said the survey is part of a multi-faceted approach. He
> expects to travel throughout the state this month to receive
> additional public input.
>
> Survey respondents are asked to identify themselves as a private
> citizen or a representative of a government entity. They also are
> asked to indicate their city or county of residency, but no other
> personal information is requested.
>
> The online survey should take 15 to 20 minutes to complete and can
> be accessed athttp://itd.idaho.gov/planning/bike/2008PlanSurvey.html
>
> Individuals who want their names placed on an e-mail distribution
> list for the new bicycle/pedestrian initiative can contact McNeese
