Re: City of Moscow Press Release
Date: January 6, 2009
For Immediate Release:
Current Conditions May Lead to Flooding
Moscow, Idaho, January 6, 2009 - Due to recent significant snow
accumulation and warmer weather and rain, the City of Moscow is
preparing for a potential flood event. To aid Moscow's residents in
personal preparations sand and sand bags are now available at no charge
at the City of Moscow Street Shop. As the City is supplying the
materials citizens are asked to fill the bags they need. For sand
please visit the Street Shop at 650 N. Van Buren Street; for more
information please call (208) 882-7550.
The City also advises residents and business owners to review snow
accumulation on their property and to clear snow from any catch basins
or yard drains to allow melt water access to the storm drainage system.
If you have an area of concern where plowed snow may be blocking a storm
drain, please report the location by calling 882-COPS.
City officials are monitoring current conditions and weather projections
for circumstances which could potentially result in flooding. If a
citizen sees indications of flooding they should report their concerns
to 882-COPS.
