In the ancient Middle East fathers were permitted to sell their  
daughters into slavery. Just ask Doug Wilson if this is biblical. See  
what God says in Exodus 21:7.

This poor girl, and girls like her are forced to marry old men to pay  
debts of their fathers in the Middle East. My heart hurts that  
"civilized societies" still are allowed to do this. What an evil  
barbaric society.
