Posted below (from its municipal website at http://www.cityofwasilla.com/)
are the results of the city election (for Wasilla, Alaska), conducted on
October 7th. It should be noted that a runoff mayoral election is scheduled
for later this month.

Also, for those of you who may be curious as to what type of criminal
element inhabits the streets (and bars) of Wasilla, Alaska, take a gander at
the long list of Wasilla Police Department blotters posted at:

Select "Police" from the drop-down box at:

http://www.cityofwasilla.com/index.aspx?page=26

Examples:

On October 9, 2008, at 0034 hours, Wasilla Police responded to the Great
Bear Brewing Company at 238 N. Boundary Street for a report of an alarm.
Upon arrival, police found two employees parked behind the restaurant, who
had tripped the alarm, but were now smoking marijuana inside a vehicle.
Investigation revealed they had just closed the restaurant, but were now
waiting for their car to warm up and defrost before driving home. Both
Mackensey Cassidy, age 23 and Jackson E. Hume, age 24, both from Wasilla
were individually issued summons to appear in court on the charge of
Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the 6th degree and charges
were filed against both individuals through the District Attorney's office.

And . . . (my personal favorite)

On August 22, 2008, at approximately 1900 hours, Wasilla Police were
contacted by James Leseman, age 24, of Wasilla. Leseman claimed he was
robbed earlier in the day by an acquaintance. Investigation revealed Leseman
had not been robbed and he was remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial facility for
Providing False Information to a Peace Officer. Leseman also had an
outstanding $2,500 warrant for 2 counts of Theft in the 2nd degree.

----

When you know that there is an outstanding warrant against you, don't you
think that "calling the police" would be way down at the bottom of your "to
do" list.

Seeya round town, Moscow.
