Chuck --

His chipmunk-cheeks are a result of poor lymphatic drainage. He had
the lymph nodes removed from the left side of his jaw when he had the
melanoma removed from his nose. Biopsy of the removed lymph node
showed that it hadn't metastasized, and he hasn't had a recurrence
since.

10-year survival rate for Stage IIa melanoma is about 65%; less, for
someone of McCain's age, but more for someone who has survived over
seven years.
