These vets are, and will continue to be, an interesting and expensive special 
interest group. Not only will they ask for, and receive, educational benefits 
for their military service, tens of thousands of them will receive medical 
and disability benefits for the remainders of their lives. Just a little back 
of an envelope arithmetic suggests that these expenses over the half-century 
that many of these vets will live to enjoy may exceed a trillion dollars 
above and beyond the other expenses of the US Middle East adventures.
