Greetings Visionaires -
A long while back, after seeing her perform right here in Moscow's East City Park, I subscribed to Gaye Adegbalola's Writings. She is an extremely thought-provoking writer.
Copied and pasted below are (simple enough) Item #1 and Item #2 of her recent writing titled "An Attitude for Living in a Mean Ol' World and . . . Why You Need a #@**#@ Attitude" from:
http://www.adegbalola.com/article_37.html
----------------------------------------------------------
Item #1There once was a woman who woke up one morning, looked in the mirror, and noticed she had only three hairs on her head.Well, she said, 'I think I'll braid my hair today?' So she did and she had a wonderful day.The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and saw that she had only two hairs on her head. 'H-M-M,' she said, 'I think I'll part my hair down the middle today?' So she did and she had a grand day.The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that she had only one hair on her head. 'Well,' she said, 'today I'm going to wear my hair in a pony tail.' So she did and she had a fun, fun day.The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that there wasn't a single hair on her head. 'YEA!' she exclaimed, 'I don't have to fix my hair today!'Attitude is everything. Be here now. Here now be. Now be here.Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass . . . It's about learning to dance in the rain!!!
-------------------------------
Item #2A car company can move its factories to Mexico and claim it's a free market.A toy company can out source to a Chinese subcontractor and claim it's a free market.A shoe company can produce its shoes in southeast Asia and claim it's a free market. A major bank can incorporate in Bermuda to avoid taxes and claim it's a free market. We can buy HP Printers made in Mexico. We can buy shirts made in Bangladesh. We can purchase almost anything we want from 20 different countries.BUT, heaven help the senior citizens who dare to buy their prescription drugs from a Canadian or Mexican pharmacy. That's called un -American! So much for a free market.
----------------------------------------------------------
If you find these items to be provocative, I encourage you to read Gaye Adegbalola's "The Heterosexual Questionnaire" at:
http://www.adegbalola.com/writings.html
It adds a whole new slant on things.
Here she is speaking about "Gay Rights vs. Civil Rights - Similarities and Differences".

But, most of Moscow remembers Gaye Adegbalola as one of the lead singers of the Uppity Blues women. Here are two of my favorite songs by them.
