[Vision2020] Idaho's 23 Democratic Delegates

To use racial and gender goals as benchmarks seems to me to be a worthy 
activity--at least until the day that color and gender really don't make a 
difference.  And surely none of you believes we're really there yet, do you? 
Many organizations with a commitment to equality set goals such as this, the 
NEA is one, the Democratic party, another.  And those who attend may 
identify themselves by race and gender, if they choose to do so..  Of course 
it is true that race is really an outmoded way to classify human beings 
anyway, but as long as it's done to deny entry--into  a job, an office, a 
school, even a church, then it seems to me that setting goals with an aim to 
ameloriate that problem is a good thing.

Janesta makes a good point--all or none, and that's an issue that continues 
to get more complex as time goes by, but I think of it as being a big part 
of the solution, too.
