[Vision2020] Respect Vision 2020

Warren,

Thank you for clarifying my intentions. I am certainly not advocating
censorship. My ad nauseum remark was solely directed at the sheer volume
and then the disgust when the topic degrades into egotistical spam. If some
want to continue a debate past the reasonable stage, just announce that you
are taking it offline, reply to the interested email addresses and remove
the vision2020 address. These mini-circles work very well and spare a lot
of unnecessary and probably boring volume on Vision 2020.

Please just be considerate of others.

B. J. Swanson

Hello again All,

Now that two dogs are not vying for the attention of my hands and causing an
inadvertent "send" click, let me begin again.

My concern was neither the content nor context of postings. Rather, the
sheer volume of what amounts to a couple of people texting each other
multiple times quickly, and thus, from my perspective, cluttering the
inboxes of hundreds in what seems to be minute elaborations of grammatical
tropes, perspectives, and one-upmanship. Some of the posts make even
Achilles and Agamemnon at the beginning of the Iliad appear rational.

Supreme Court rulings, for example, have cogency, coherency, and relevance
even here in Moscow. I would hesitate to call any one topic unimportant or
irrevelant, and enjoy the opportunity to learn from all of them. I don't
learn much at all from two or three folks engaging in vitriol-- take it
off-list, maybe? Talk it out at a downtown venue? Or at least give it a day
to reflect prior to reply. This may have been the operant mindset within Ms.
Swanson's ad nauseum phrase earlier today-- not the topoi themselves, but
the iteration and reiteration of minutiae directed toward not all, but only
one or two others at most.

I'm not trying to advocate censorship here. Rather, I ask for the simple
consideration of all of the others entangled within the thread by proxy of
the listserve itself. Think twice before posting, and consider the entirety
of the audience?

Says the guy who hit the send button by mistake,

Warren Hayman

Hello All,

I fear I might have had a hand in this evolving thread. Accordingly, please
allow me to clarify/extend my post of yesterday.

Perhaps some people would like to advocate for a new committee to be created
to moderate the list serve and to establish what is acceptable and relevant
content to the original 1995 Vision 2020 Mission Statement. Give them the
right to delete anything they disagree with, pick and choose who gets to
participate, and under what conditions.

I personally consider how we treat our soldiers and terrorists relevant. As
Moscow does have residents in war. We have an ROTC program here. And Moscow
also cares about civil rights, and the how it impacts our community. We are
as much a part of the US community as any other city in America. I don't
believe our topics should be limited to the city code of fines for dog poo
on sidewalks and what days we can water our lawn, or what kind of pies will
be at the Farmer's Market.

I certainly find this conversation more relevant to our community over that
bashing Doug Wilson every day like this forum did for about five years.

Best Regards,

Donovan

Bev,

Such graciousness is not often encountered on vision 2020. It is too bad
that some people think so much of themselves that they have hijacked this
public service to stroke their egos. The problem with my delete button is
that it is hard to find because the print is worn off because of overuse. I
really object to the 5 minutes it takes to download all those messages I
don?t want, to get to the few that keep me informed as to what is going on
in the community.

Kris

Seems like an odd request.
<http://mail.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/tsmileys2/33.gif> Sorry I lost my
copy of the list of every approved topic 98% of the people on Vision 2020
want to engage in. So, I am simply going to request you click the delete
button if you don't want to read or participate in the discussion.

Warren,

I'm not offended and couldn't agree more. Thank you for saying it.
I'm sure
98% of the other Vision 2020 lurkers agree with you.

Can we all be courteous and limit posts to 3 per day? This would certainly
alleviate the ad nauseum posting about GITMO, Interfaith, Mexican Consulate,
Everyone Deserves Death and on and on.... Can we treat Vision 2020 as a
"Community" listserve and not as a personal blog for just a few. If
you
want to continue these unwinnable arguments, how about taking them off
Vision 2020?

Hello All,

Am I the only one wondering how much of this discussion could occur
off-list?

Sorry to any offended by the question,
