[Vision2020] I thought that Farris was "contained"

Unfortunately, Nick, Farris seems to have learned well from his master, whose only apparent concern over Heirdoug's misdeeds is not that they're mean-spirited and immature, but that Farris, like a cobweb, has clung to all things Kirk and thus makes them look bad.

The Kirk doesn't need Farris to look bad, though. I'd say Wilson's weekend exposition of lesbians and dildoes, plus his recent pontificating over the "father hunger" that manifests itself in concern over food -- not gluttony, but food choices and their healthfulness -- makes him and his flock look a bit off to most reasonable people. In Wilson's mind, which seemingly is very fertile ground indeed, those who don't just have at the pile of biscuits and gravy in front of them are showing an immature "father hunger" that he, evidently, can both diagnose and help assuage. A platter of discernment and common sense here, slathered in butter or not, would be a welcome addition to the Bishop of Moscow's groaning board.

No pastor I know would devote nearly a dozen posts over the last week rebuking those in his flock who concern themselves about a healthy diet, and certainly none would weave a pro-Christian masculinity teaching out of an infomercial pitching phallic sex toys to lesbians. "Odd" doesn't begin to cover it, and this past week in Blog and Mablog would not, I'm guessing, prove to the outsider that a mature, stable, learned evangelical pastor was behind the wheel. At this point, it appears the Kirk train is running off the rails, and Farris is just a patch of rust on an out-of-control locomotive.

May their, after the train wreck, be a remnant of those faithful to Christ who walk away from the disaster with their allegiance to Wilson only a bad memory, duly repented of.

Dear Doug:

I thought that your pastor had told you to cut out the insults, but you
appear to be incorrigible.

I have reported your most recent offense to Pastor Wilson.

Hi
Roger:

Please tell me how we are
maintaining our freedoms by fighting the

war in Iraq. The only
freedom being fought for is the freedom for

our oil companies to export
Iraqi oil.
