[Vision2020] [SPAM] Another Sunny Day in Moscow

It was 23 below in Lewiston.

We huddled around the gas heater as the wind
blew through the walls of our place, a
building built in 1904 in downtown.

That spring was fun, though.

We went upriver and watched the massive
ice breakup on the Clearwater that shifted
the bridge at Spalding.

It was 52 below.....That's one stretch of 24 hours I will never forget.  I was able to get out in my VW Bug but don't remember where I went.  Everything was closed and it was Winter Break so many of our neighbors were gone.  We ran patrol through the houses making sure everything still worked and nothing froze up.   Sue ----- Original Message ----- From: Carl Westberg To: Ted Moffett ; Steven Basoa Cc: Moscow Vision 2020 Sent: Tuesday, January 22, 2008 10:49 AM Subject: Re: [Vision2020] [SPAM] Another Sunny Day in Moscow
I remember that day well, although my memory has always told me it was 52 below.  Regardless, it was a tad chilly.  Thought I'd step outside to see what that was like, and my lungs immediately refused to work, as I turned gasping for air back into the house.  There was also a ton of snow, which all melted in a nice flood within a week.  That was fun.   Carl Westberg Jr.

All-         December 30, 1968, Moscow hits 42 below zero F.  Compared to this, we are in a heat wave:         http://www.weather.com/weather/wxclimatology/daily/83843?climoMonth=12

Kihei, located on the island of Maui, has a forecast of temps in the mid 70's through the next 10 days, with a chance of showers the 27th through 30th. Now, doesn't that make everyone feel better?             A-looooooooo-ha
