I'll play here too, Vizzz peeps. Here's a few I added to my library
over the last year.
Freakonomics -- Steven Levitt and Stephen Dubner.
An "outside the box" look at economics. It might make you mad or make
you go "hmmm", but it's interesting nonetheless.
Guns, Germs, and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies -- Jared Diamond.
The author calls it "A short history about everyone for the last 13,000
years". Talks about why Eurasion civilizations, for the most part, have
survived while others have not, due to gaps in technology and resources
rather than any intellectual, moral, or genetic superiority.
Fascinating.
Essentials of Firefighting -- International Fire Service Training
Association.
I think I spent more time with this book this fall than any other. I
realize it was only one class, but it reminded me that work life is a
lot different than school life. It also reminded me that I really don't
like being a student, even though I like to learn new things.
