[Vision2020] Road conditions

Can I continue the rant?

My biggest beef is on Washington Street. Heading north, if you have
successfuly navigated the 3-2 lane section, and have chosen the left lane
through the S-curve, you turn the last corner and WHAM! your lane ends in a
pile of snow.

At this point, as I see it, you have four options:
1.. Slam on your brakes and get rear-ended by someone behind you.
2.. Swerve to the right, and hope no one is in the right-hand lane.
3.. Swerve to the left, and hope no one is merging from Main or A street.
4.. Get high-centered on the snow.
Sheesh.

<rant on> Is it just me or do the roads seem less plowed, less de-iced
and less sanded than usual for the conditions we've had recently? I find
too many intersections a dangerous sheet of ice right now and wonder why.
One observation is that when this accumulation started, it seemed like it
was a day late before I saw any plows and by then the snow had compacted on
the roads and the plows only removed the loose stuff and left an ice sheet
behind. I don't think it's been too cold (except maybe one night) for
deicer to work, so where have the plows, sand and deicer been? </rant off>
