Hansy,

Every retailer in America buys from the same suppliers as Wal-Mart. If Wal-Mart were to shut its doors tomorrow, or were not to buy from China and other abusive suppliers, then the abusive suppliers would not go away, they would just sell to Wal-Mart competitors using the same abusive tactics.

The shrimp you buy at Wal-Mart for $5.99 is packed by the same slave that Target sells but, for $6.29. The only difference is that Wal-Mart can demand a lower price because it can buy more shrimp from the slave owner. The key is not to ban Wal-Mart, but to ban the slavery.

Did the abolitionist stop buying cotton and tobacco to halt slavery, or did they just ban slavery? Which was the more effective method?

  Best Regards,

  Donovan

You mean like China, one of Wal-Mart's major suppliers? Are you suggesting that it is not the fault of Wal-Mart's corporate culture, but our government's fault for not monitoring Wal-Mart more closely for "allowing trade with nations that do not enforce minimum human rights and environmental standards"?

Hmmm.

You just might be onto to something, Arnie?
