Dear Roger,
As my metaphysics professor, Stephen Schiffer (currently Chair of the Philosophy Department at NYU) used to say: "Believe it if you can!"
Not to be disrespectful but it isn't exactly a rush to judgment if it is coming on the heals of a guilty plea and a resignation.
