Jeff Harkins stated:

"Perhaps Ms. Swanson would provide us with a list of the economic
development accomplishments of the current city government."

Things take time, Mr. Harkins.

The current city council has been with us since January of 2005. Certainly
you can understand the time element involved in:

1) Initially bringing a topic before the council.

2) Sending that topic to committee for discussion, review and
recommendation.

3) Research by city staff.

4) Public hearing and discussion by city council.

5) Reading, discussion and approval/disapproval by city council.

This takes time, Mr. Harkins. Perhaps what gave previous topics the false
image of an expedient city council was that they (the previous city council)
never applied a standard to the multitude of topics that went before them.
They simply "rubber stamped" everything and adjourned.

When serving for the benefit of the people, Mr. Harkins, it is best to apply
standards, standards that have been ultimately established by the people of
Moscow.

Things take time. The days of "Whatever Lola wants, Lola gets," have been
suspended for the past 21 months. Let's hope, for the benefit of Moscow's
future, that they don't return.

Seeya round town, Moscow.

"We're a town of about 23,000 with 10,000 college students. The college
students are not very active in local elections (thank goodness!)."
