Water Efficient Landscape Workshops

Two free community workshops on water-efficient landscaping will
be offered in October in Moscow. The workshops are part of a program to
plan a Xeriscapea demonstration garden for a portion of the grounds of the
Moscow Library. On Tuesday, October 16 the Latah County Master Gardeners
will present "Water-Efficient Landscaping on the Palouse: The Basics".
Topics to be covered include the seven principles of xeriscaping, design
basics, site selection and soil preparation, plant selection and
water-conscious irrigation.

On Tuesday, October 23 Paul Warnick, Horticulturist for the
University of Idaho Arboretum, will present "Lessons From the University of
Idaho Xeriscape Demonstration Garden". Warnick will provide practical advice
and examples from the Demonstration Garden and the University of Idaho
Arboretum. This workshop will focus on plant selection, plant combinations
that work well, and practical advice for designing, installing and
maintaining your own water-efficient landscape.

Both workshops are free and will take place from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in
the 1912 Center, 412 East Third St. in Moscow. The events are sponsored by
the Latah County Library District, the Latah County Master Gardeners, and
the Palouse Clearwater Environmental Institute. Light refreshments will be
provided. For more information contact Heidi Weaver at <heidi at pcei.org>

The term xeriscape is trademarked by Denver Water and is used with their
