Two free community workshops on water-efficient landscaping will be offered in
October in <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City
w:st="on">Moscow</st1:City></st1:place>. The workshops are part of a
program to plan a Xeriscape</SPAN></FONT><FONT face=Symbol><SPAN
style="FONT-FAMILY: Symbol">ä</SPAN></FONT> demonstration garden for a portion
of the grounds of the Moscow Library. On <B><SPAN
style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold">Tuesday, October 16</SPAN></B> the Latah County Master
Gardeners will present “Water-Efficient Landscaping on the Palouse: The Basics”.
Topics to be covered include the seven principles of xeriscaping, design
basics, site selection and soil preparation, plant selection and water-conscious
irrigation.<o:p></o:p></P>

On <B><SPAN style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold">Tuesday, October 23</SPAN></B> Paul
Warnick, Horticulturist for the <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceType
w:st="on">University</st1:PlaceType> of <st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Idaho
Arboretum</st1:PlaceName></st1:place>, will present “Lessons From the University
of Idaho Xeriscape Demonstration Garden<B><SPAN
style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold">”.</SPAN></B> Warnick will provide practical advice
and examples from the <st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Demonstration</st1:PlaceName>
<st1:PlaceType w:st="on">Garden</st1:PlaceType> and the <st1:place
w:st="on"><st1:PlaceType w:st="on">University</st1:PlaceType> of <st1:PlaceName
w:st="on">Idaho Arboretum</st1:PlaceName></st1:place>. This workshop will focus
on plant selection, plant combinations that work well, and practical advice for
designing, installing and maintaining your own water-efficient
landscape.<o:p></o:p></SPAN></FONT></P>

Both workshops are free and will take place from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the 1912

are sponsored by the Latah County Library District, the Latah County Master
Gardeners, and the Palouse Clearwater Environmental Institute. Light
