I would suggest wearing the sign yourself, Mr. Kettle.  For what it is
worth, the actual words, according to Jim Johnson, were:

"How was I supposed to know he was mentally retarded?  It's not like
he was wearing a sign around his neck!"

But, of course, it is easier to believe what you want.
