And the day we use property tax exclusively for property related services let's tax churches, too. I think it not too much to ask of them to pay for that protection.

Subject: [Vision2020] anti-levy DN letter
Writer T. Allegi, in his letter to the editor today, asks that voters vote "no" on the upcoming levy, because he believes that using property tax money to fund "non-property-related" services is the wrong way to fund schools. He defines "property-related" services as, for example, police and fire protection.
There may someday be in the State of Idaho many or different mechanisms for funding public education -- but there is currently a system under which property taxes pay the lion's share of the load. That's what we've got, and to "send a message" by voting "no" on the levy because of non-support for property-tax funding for public education is pointless. The failure of this levy would be terrible for MSD. The message might be a good one, but a "no" vote against the levy is the wrong way to express it.
