<DIV><BR></DIV><BR>Writer T. Allegi, in his letter to the editor today, asks
that voters vote "no" on the upcoming levy, because he believes that using
property tax money to fund "non-property-related" services is the wrong way to
fund schools. He defines "property-related" services as, for example,
police and fire protection.<BR><BR>There may someday be in the State of Idaho
many or different mechanisms for funding public education -- but there is
currently a system under which property taxes pay the lion's share of the
load. That's what we've got, and to "send a message" by voting "no" on
the levy because of non-support for property-tax funding for public education
is pointless. The failure of this levy would be terrible for MSD.
The message might be a good one, but a "no" vote against the levy is the wrong
