I'll jump on the bandwagon too. I like this idea although Saundra's warning
gives me some pause.
Came here fall of 1962 as a Marine corporal Naval engineering and Science
Program (NESEP) student in electrical engineering. During 4 years completed
144 semester hour program, married a local woman, worked 28 hours a weekend
at the Richfield station on North Maine, and became a 2d Lieutenant in 1966
who was sent where every other Marine was sent those days. Served 20 years,
retired in 1978 and returned to Moscow. Returned to UI and received an MS in
Public Administration in 1980 and an MBA is 1981, thanks to a full time job
and my GI Bill, because my 7 children had to be fed. Went to work for UI
Student Financial Aid in 1981 and for Facilities (Physical Plant in the old
'real words" system) and stayed until 1999 when I retired. Currently I live
east of town and work on my garden, visit my in-laws in Olympia, my children
and grand children in Boise and sit on my back porch. I also tend to be an
occasional 'stir the pot' meddler in Moscow and Latah County business when I
feel like it needs to be done.
I have enjoyed reading these posts much more than the wrangling ones
although I do appreciate it when someone gets caught out. But I do think the
open forum with everyone allowed to post what they think is important.
Trying to limit speech to only the ideas that agree with our own is a great
way to become blind to the facts, as the Bay of Pigs, Iraq, Palestine, and
other blunders by people much smarter and more well informed than I attest.
Hang in there posters, all of you. What you have to say is important because
it lends depth and balance to the 'Viz'.
