I am an old gesser of 69, half blind ,with arthritis and can't type well. I was raised in the middle of Owyhee County on a cattle ranch. We did not have electricity or indoor plumbing. We bathed in a no. 3 wash tub in the middle of the kitchen floor on saturday night. I rode horseback to a one room school house. My two brothers and I we half the school. We went for 8 months in the summer as we were snowed in for the winter. I have some nostalgia for it except for the no 3 wash tub (I like a shower). My two brothers and I batched and went to high school at Marsing, which was over 100 miles from the ranch.
I received a B.S. in Animal Science in 1961 at which time I went into the Army. I provided veterinary care to guard dogs. I came back to the University and received an M.S in Animal Nutrition in 1968. I spent about 30 years in the Livestock Feed Business.. In i997 I went to work for the AVS Department doing dairy research. I will retire tomorrow. I plan on doing some work around the pace, fixing fence etc. We have horses, sheep, goats and chickens. I plan on being more involved in community and county activities. I have several pieces of legislation that I will be workings on.
