[Vision2020] Which came first, the Schwaller or the Edna?

That was some pretty thin soup, kids; I’m surprised you bothered to answer. Next time you should take heed to the old proverb that says a good excuse is worse than none, because your response wasn’t even good. Nevertheless, I’m happy for it because it gives me a chance to note another linguistic pattern between you and one of your predecessors — Edna Wilmington (#1).

And I want you to notice the prevailing distinctive that connects you two, which isn’t the gratuitous denials. It’s the condescending arrogance, the latent disdain for your audience, which you conceal in your cutesy cat-and-mouse answers — “I’m not this, but I might be that; try to guess.”

Compare the following two quotes:
