[Vision2020] The Newest Fad

My husband and I were out bikejoring on the Chipman trail about three years ago. He had the well-broke, ex-sled dog that knew what the heck a harness was all about. I had the one year old Alaskan that was just starting to get his commands down reliably. A rabbit crossed the trail in front of the Sibe. Parker thought it was no big deal and kept going, but Evan, the Alaskan, went bonkers. He made a 90-degree turn and bolted after Bugs. My knee was messed up for a few months after that wreck!

Luckily, Evan has decided that being a horse show dog, standing out against the myriad of toy dogs, JRTs, and cattle dogs, is far more fun than jorring. :-) Hubby still takes them skijoring up in Elk River each year, but they don't do much on pavement anymore.

There's another device called a Springer (http://www.springerusa.com/ ) that keeps the dog beside a bike rider, but they aren't expected to do as much work. It has a little bit of give, so when the dog does take off, he'll bounce back a little.

I liked it until I saw the Rotweiler looking towards what I can imagine is a squirrel. The next picture would be that dog and scooter heading for the squirrel and then me on the ground.
