OK...I am sorry for wanting to have a conversation that would have history
and the actions of others in it but some of you do not seem to be able to go
along. So, I am dropping the subject and please be aware that you do not
know anything about me or my thoughts about anything.
Perhaps this is too complicated a subject for an email site where-in we
cannot see nor hear the inflection of voice...but jump to many judgements
nontheless.

So, the reverse would hold true as well, correct? "The church" (and please
clarify what you mean by "the church") has no right to try to force the
State to do something it is against, right? If "the church" wants to do
something, it should go for it, but the State should not be forced into
anything by "the church", right?
And, we can count on you to stand up and speak out against "the church"
trying to force the state into things, right?
Of course, I don't agree with your premise for ***obvious*** reasons, but
I'm just wanting to make sure you're consistent, at least :-)

Why is it not a state issue? Why not open it up so that any two
consenting adults can marry each other and gain the benefits that
heterosexual couples currently enjoy? The individual churches can still
refuse to marry any two people based upon whatever criteria they care to
name. There are plenty of religions that don't have a problem with it.
So why should they be restricted in what they can do simply because some
other groups does have a problem with it? This is why the separation of
church and state is a good thing. It provides a framework that people
of all different creeds can use as they see fit.
I really wish church leaders would govern their own flocks, and stop
trying to control all the other faiths.
