Greetings:
A new poll consisting of 23 pages of questions has been conducted in Iraq. You can read it at http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/shared/bsp/hi/pdfs/19_03_07_iraqpollnew.pdf.
The general findings don't bode well for Bush's policies.
*No confidence in coalition forces has dipped another 10 percent to 82 percent.
*On the question of who controls the country, 59 percent say that the U.S. does. So much for Bush's claim about Iraqi sovereignty.
*In 2004 only 17 percent of Iraqis supported attacks on coalition forces; now 51 percent do.
*Given a long list of actors in Iraq and the question of who has caused the most violence, 31 percent said that coalition forces followed by 18 percent for Al Qaeda. The actor named "Bush" drew 9 percent, beating out Iran at 7 percent and common criminals at 6 percent.
*On the general question of how bad the situation is, 59 percent of Iraqis in 2005 said that it was "quite bad" or "very bad." Those two categories now draw 76 percent.
