Here's a proposal for a compromise approach to the Jan. 27
anti-war march:
The PPC did not organize this march, but a number of us are
going to join in. Personally, I think it would be more effective
to stop at the stoplight at the entrance to the mall, and
stand on each corner with our signs. And that's what I'll
do rather than go into the mall itself. That way, we'd have visibility as
protesters of the war, without directly confronting the
military personnel who are caught up in it. Let's reserve our anger for the
architects of the wars of choice and aggression, and our
compassion for its victims - whether they be our military personnel or
the civilians caught in the crossfire.
I'd hate to see us lose anti-war allies bacause we alienate
people with the way we conduct our protests. A majority
of Americans already oppose this war.
I have left a phone message with Mike of Seeds of Peace re this,
to see if we can reshape the proposed protest march.
