You are right in that biofuels cannot totally replace fossil fuels. They can however help, along with improving fuel efficiency. I don't know if battery powered cars will ever be  a success, hopefully they will ( not holding my breath). Given the ingenuity of inventive people, I think that eventually there will be a variety of other alternatives.
