Yep, evil has a smell all its own . . . and Phelps and his crew stink to 
high heaven.  I mean the "high heaven" part literally.

Your scenario is not fiction.
That is how the Phelps family church raises money.  They video their
demonstrations and then one of the lawyers in the family sues if anyone
touches a family member.
Quite the clever family business enterprise (if you ignore how it smells)
