Greetings:
Thanks, Andreas, for offering that dramatic Biblical perspective.
I'm also too busy being an intellectual mutant to respond in detail, but I challenge anyone to prove, using the Bible alone, that the ancient Hebrews or the early Christians believed that the fetus was a person from conception on. I've covered all the arguments that I know at www.class.uidaho.edu/ngier/abortion.htm, and I welcome any new attempts (or objections to my readings) that may prove the anti-abortionist position.
All that I have to say about the partial birth issue is that legal provisions have always been given for late term abortions in the case of a threat to the health and life of the mother. In fact, most anti-abortionists agree that abortions should be performed to save the life of the mother. The ancient Hebrews believed that in this case the fetus is an "aggressor" and one has a duty to kill an aggressor in self defense.
