[Vision2020] [Spam] Guns or thoughts

So if someone goes to the police about someone else it's just a
"neighbor-to-neighbor" thing? So now it has to go to a judge? That's a
step in the right direction. Now all we need is to have evidence and
burden-of-proof and all that other nonsense that protects innocent
people from wrongful convictions.

If you are suggesting that certain mental conditions should be grounds
for not being able to purchase a gun, I can agree with you only if there
is a good process in place to ensure that there are few (if any) false
positives. However, while this guy was on people's radars, he was not
thought to be enough of a problem to be committed, so it's possible that
he could not be thought of as enough of a problem to be put on this
magic list.

I'm sure the system can be modified to be more diligent in this area,
and I imagine we will be sick-to-death of hearing about attempts to do
just that soon enough.

As to the word "paranoid", I'm not frightened of this happening to
myself. I'm just looking out for those who might be wrongfully tagged
as being officially "mentally deranged" or whatever. Are you concerned
about this aspect of things? Isn't it possible that without controls in
place that someone could cause a whole heap of trouble for someone else
with a simple anonymous phone call? Is that a good idea?
