Greetings from Brooklyn!

Some of the Right are so confused that I don't know what they are talking about when they talk about the Left.

So I will respond on behalf of all classical liberals out there, those who believe in a careful balance of liberty, equality, and community. Classical liberalism has a very positive view of humanity's effect on the planet and other human beings. You are read more about my view of classical liberalism at www.class.uidaho.edu/ngier/liberalism.htm.

Here are some of its achievements:

1. A view of free market economics that is carefully balanced with protections against greed and other abuses.

2. The spread of liberal representative democracy to nearly all parts of the world where others are trying their hand at balancing liberty, equality, and community/traditions.

3. The extension of liberty and equality to all people regardless of race, creed, and sexual orientation. The third group of people are still struggling to get their rights.

4. The development of respect for animal as well as human rights, and respect for the environment and a realization that if we do not check our negative effects on the earth, we may not be able to enjoy liberty, equality, and community/traditition.

There are many positive things that I can say about the liberal, humanistic vision of the world, but I'll close for now.
