The Friday Letter
A Newsletter for University of Idaho Alumni and Friends Sept. 29, 2006

Dear Friends,

As I wrote to our faculty and staff last week, this is a particularly busy,
exciting and important time for our community. From the Argonaut and the
local news to the buzz on campus and around the state as we head into
Homecoming Week, you may have heard that our vitally important work to tell
the story of the University of Idaho more effectively is quickly approaching
a crucial moment.

You will shortly see the launch of the initial public campaign to build the
profile of our institution. The quality and distinctiveness of our
university reflects the work of our faculty, staff, students and alums. The
goal of this campaign is to communicate that quality and distinctiveness,
and elevate the University of Idaho to the stature and standing it deserves
in the minds of those we care most about, outside - and within - our
community.

The campaign will kick off a comprehensive, multi-year effort to communicate
our quality and accomplishments, and the promises we make to our students -
indeed to convey the very identity of our university - in a consistent,
relevant, positive and distinctive way.

I am very proud of what you will see and hear. Our campaign will communicate
in bold and sometimes surprising ways how the University of Idaho:
* expands intellectual boundaries;
* enhances passion and discovery;
* improves lives through scholarship;
* creates heightened expectations; and
* redefines opportunities.

Stay tuned!

Tim White
President
