"I don't see how it (mock election) can reflect the ballot when the children (gradeschoolers) don't even know who the candidates are. Even if they did, they only represent a small demographic of the population (representative of their parents views -maybe). Keep in mind that the high school is the only group that makes an effort to research the candidates and the props, constitutional amendment, etc."

Sadly Tom, that is also true of the adult voters.

Keep in mind that the high school is the only group that makes an effort to research the candidates and the props, constitutional amendment, etc. You have to remember that the old, the young- 18+, and everyone in-between, has the opportunity to vote for real. Their views may or may not represent the 1500 children. How many of the parents have more than 1 or 2 kids in school? How many votes would this actually be a "poll" for? In fact, I seem to recall Shirley Ringo losing twice in the Mock Election when she actually won the general election. The truth of the matter is this; we will know the outcome of the election late night Nov. 7th (barring any unforseen "chad" problems).
