[Vision2020] The death penalty....a deterent!!!!!

I am against abortion. However, how could it realistically be made illegal? Second, how would you make a mother love her baby?

Any mother could go to an Indian reservation, visit Mexico or Canada, get a pill smuggled into the country, or get a prescription from countless doctors in the country that would "say" it was a death risk for the mother to have the baby. It would not be a good use of taxpayer monies to trying to enforce such an impossibly unenforceable law.

Second, there are too many gray areas regarding abortion where it would be acceptable to have an abortion that could not be written clearly into law.

Third, I really don't like the idea of the government establishing legal control over a person's reproductive organs. That is a scary proposition to give that kind of power to government, especially this one. I fear that with overpopulation, and genetic engineering, that the government would use that power to force abortions and change the genetics of babies while in the womb. I think that is a bad idea.

I think the best thing for society to do is work together to have women freely choose to not have an abortion, to dedicate resources to women that find themselves with an unwanted pregnancy to over come the economic hardships of raising a child on a woman's salary, and of course, to prevent unwanted pregnancies in the first place.

  Best,

We agree about the moral issue. You just think that the moral debate is more clear-cut than I do. I would rather leave such difficult decisions up to individuals, not the government.

Joe, instances in which an abortion is the only alternative to losing the
mother are EXTREMELY rare. I think you know that this is a red herring.

As far as killing a child to preclude potential future suffering.... that is
not a justification I would ever want to be in a position of supporting.
What of a physically healthy child born into extreme poverty or an abusive
home? Should we snuff them out as well? Joe, you are engaging in
intellectual twister in an effort to rationalize what your heart must be
telling you is horribly wrong. You have been conned by our culture of
death.

It is not too late for you to assert your instincts, dispense with the
straitjacket of liberal orthodoxy and STAND UP FOR LIFE!

Best, -T
