One, I don't use the term "redneck," which has nonetheless entered into a
pretty profitable arena for certain comedians and their followers, who
presumably ought to be the ones to take offense. Two, I don't regularly
read the Lewiston Tribune. Three, "foamers," a term I have used, and
"knuckle-draggers," which describes certain of my high school boyfriends,
has nothing to do with race, economic class, or religion. Four, it stuns me
that you don't see the difference that makes "ragheads" and "tar babies"
utterly hateful. And, five, the entire Quad Cities is not exactly waiting
to hear my pronouncements on what constitutes bigotry. I'm pretty sure no
one is.
Believe me, I can live with the risk that I might appear inconsistent to
people who fail to grasp these points. There are others, but five is as
high as I can count without coffee.

Clearly you are unwilling to accept my explanation as regards my motives,
keely. That is your right as a free American. My conscience is clear
however, as I know in my heart that it is the BEHAVIOR of these bomb
throwing murderers that I was referring to, and not their race. I must
comment that I find your indignation on this point to be curiously
selective. The Lewiston Tribune and local liberals have for years
denigrated conservative white folk as "knuckle draggers," "foamers,"
"rednecks," and the like. All of course, without a peep from you.
Apparently it is fine and dandy to slam people of pallor. I might suggest
that if you wish folks to regard your indignation as legitimate, you may
wish to be a little more consistent.
Happy holidays, -T
