MCA Schedules Forum on Professional Technical Education

 

The Moscow Civic Association is sponsoring a public forum at the 1912 Building at 7pm on Monday, November 27, about creating opportunities for both students and business by enhancing professional technical education (formerly vocational education) in local schools.  

A three-person panel will initiate a discussion of the issues.  The panel members are Mike Rush, Idaho State Director of Professional Technical Education; Jim Gregson, Chair of the University of Idaho Department of Adult, Career and Technology Education; and Paul Kimmell, Executive Director of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce.

In addition, the audience will be encouraged to participate in a guided problem-solving discussion on the topic.  A group of business, educational, and political leaders have agreed to attend and participate in the public discussion with other audience members.  

The list of local leaders scheduled to attend includes Representative Tom Trail, Representative Shirley Ringo, Jerry Weitz, Marsha Royer (Schweitzer vice president of human resources), Barry Ramsay (owner of D8 in Potlatch), Ken Medlin, Shirley Greene (chair of Rotary Club's vocational education committee), Dean Paul Rowland (UI College of Education), Dean Steve Daley-Laursen (UI College of Natural Resources), Dean Rob Lohrmeyer (Lewis-Clark State College Professional Technical Programs), Cindy Bechinski (Moscow School District curriculum director),  Bob Celebrezze (principal of Moscow High School), Carole Jones (principal of Moscow's alternative high school), and other administrators, teachers and school board members from Moscow School District.

The Moscow Civic Association is a non-profit citizen's organization that strives to improve the quality of life for Moscow residents.  The mission of the Moscow Civic Association is to inform community members about important local issues and encourage civic participation.
