Another sensible reason for such a sentence:

Lacking sufficient medical knowledge, I can only assume (and hope) that if
any of Mubita's sexual partners do contract HIV or AIDS it can be
diagnosed/determined within the next fours years.

Should ANY of Mubita's victims be diagnosed positive for AIDS (a virtual
death sentence), Mubita will remain in prison for the remaining 40 years.

Visionaires -

KHQ Channel 6 has just reported that Kanay Mubita, found guilty of having
sex and not advising his partners that he is HIV-positive, has been
sentenced to 44 (forty-four) years in prison.

Has anybody else heard this news item?
