[Vision2020] border security

I think it is disingenuous that people are making US border security into a
discrimination issue. No one I have listened to proposing tightening the
security on our Northern and Southern borders has mentioned keeping any
specific race from entering the US. The issue is National security, no more
- no less. Now instead of dealing with the security issue, we are yelling
about racial discrimination and the economic necessity of immigrants. We
need to keep our eye on the ball and solve these separate issues
individually. The first thing we need to do is secure our borders so we have
a better chance of defending ourselves against terrorist activity. The issue
of how many immigrants to allow each year is entirely different and should
not be used to cloud the problem at hand.

There is nothing wrong with demanding that everyone enter our country
legally after being screened by our own Naturalization and Homeland Security
personnel. Senator Frist has the right idea on this issue. Deal with the
security as a separate issue, otherwise we will never get anywhere. We can
always increase the numbers of legal immigrants allowed, for whatever
reason(s) we want to but lets get a grip on who is coming in.
