Hi Tony,

Thanks for your response. Just for the record I do not hate Bush and I object
to being called anti-American, and I'm sure my sources would object to the same
characterizations.

Bush has done more to destroy America's reputation than any American I know. I
feel sorry for the man, and I deeply embarrassed that we have such an
inarticulate, uninformed, and immature man as our president. His bumbling
responses to reporters this morning and his juvenile antics with them were
beyond the pale.

You speak in generalizations. By the way, your nasty characterization of the
Iraqis has living in the 12th Century undermines your optimism about their
ability to succeed as a nation. The fact is that, despite Saddam, Iraq was one
of the most secular and sophisticated countries in the Middle East. Within a
matter of a year our interevention has turned them from 70 percent support for a
secular state to 70 percent for an Islamic state. If there is any retreat to
the Middle Ages, then we will have made it possible. And if Iran gets a new ally
in the Middle East, we again will have made it possible.

A word about my left wing sources such as the AP and BBC (!). Perhaps you did
not know that members of Congress have voted The New Republic (TNR) the most
objective journal in America. They have a long standing feud with the editors of
The Nation, who think the TNR has sold out to the Establisment. They once had
Fred Barnes on their editorial board, and under his direction they supported the
Contras and praised Ronald Reagen. They initially supported the invasion of
Iraq and in their most recent issue they advise against U.S. withdrawal. So
much for their "left-wing" positions. So, Tony, stop the name calling and get
down to analysis based on the facts.

Yes, I have reason to doubt the truthfulness of this administration. I have
documented their record of deception at
http://users.adelphia.net/~nickgier/deceptions.htm, to which you have yet to
respond. When we find out what they are privy to, we usually find that many of
our suspicions are verified. Polls put Bush's trustworthiness at 40 percent.
The most common word pollsters hear to describe Bush is "incompetent." The man
has proved many times over that he is simply not qualified to be president.

It is not my wish that Iraq disintegrate into three parts. I truly hope that
they survive. Even if they do, the UIA, with close ties to Iran, will be the
ruling party for the indefinite future. That consititutes failure of Bush's
policies, not victory.

One more comment about Michael Medved. As a Jew his defense of Gibson's
anti-Semitic "The Passion of the Christ" was an outrage. Since you missed my
review of the movie (others may have as well) you can read it at
http://users.adelphia.net/~nickgier/madmax.htm.

Boy, do I miss Phil Nisbet on this list. There was a conservative that could
make an argument.
