Hi Again Mr. Crabtree,
Well, I'm not totally up-to-date on things, but I know Massachusetts &
Illinois *do* have state laws regarding this (any pharmacy that stocks
contraceptives must also stock Plan B). Wal-Mart's violation of state law
was the basis for the lawsuits, which Wal-Mart lost. Does anyone know the
current status on legislation in other states?
Wal-Mart *wasn't* in the clear, which is why they lost the lawsuits and
which is why, I presume, they've changed their policy regarding Plan B :-)

Greetings, Ms Lund. As you probably would expect, I am 100% against the
state compelling anyone to sell a product or provide a service that they
believe is morally wrong. To force a pharmacist to fill a prescription for a
product that he finds abhorrent is no different that forcing a pacifist,
anti second amendment type hardware store owner is sell affordable handguns
in accordance with applicable law. As near as I can tell, it is not against
state or federal law to refuse to sell Plan B so as far as complying with
regulations, Wal-Mart was in the clear. With that being the case, do I take
from your reply that you're cool with WM's reticence to provide this
product?

Hi Again Mr. Crabtree,
I think you're trying to compare apples and bananas :-)
No one forces Wal-Mart to operate pharmacies -- that's a choice they've
made. Of course I expect them to comply with the laws of the states where
they *choose* to operate pharmacies as well as with any applicable federal
laws.
Just as I expect handgun retailers to comply with applicable laws and
regulations.
Don't you?

Ms Lund, How would you feel if instead of the contraceptive in this article
we substituted inexpensive handguns as the item which stores were compelled
to sell in spite of their desires? Substitute the NRA for NARAL. Feel the
same way about this imposition of state pressure on a retailer?
