[Vision2020] Image and Videos

Daniel,

Thanks for the explanation. I think you missed Rose's point, but I'll let
her further take that up with you. Your explanation helps, and I thank you
for responding in kindness; but I'm still wondering if demanding Tom to
remove the picture, the picture he has already spent time custom editing for
his own purpose, has any helpful long term effects. The overall hurt done
to NSA will not seem to be effected by the removal of that picture - which
has been boasted for months now anyway - since the overall hurt is primarily
going to be caused by general public opinion and how upset you get your more
aggressive opponents. In this context, it seems that demanding Tom to
remove this picture will produce more long run damaging effects than if you
just turned the other cheek and granted him permission. I think that if you
would have privately emailed him a gracious letter explaining your
disagreement with its use but that he had permission to use your picture,
more could have been won for the side of NSA. Also consider that the
picture is very well done and makes the NSA building - and my paint job --
look its best. Tom's photo shop hack job makes him look bad (sorry Tom, but
I'm assuming you are not a professional graphic designer), whereas you have
more exposure of a good marketing picture. This is why I still suspect that
there is still something more to this response to your critics and something
resonating with other kirker responses.

Yours,

Michael Metzler

Rose Husky,

First of all, every image or video that Dale Courtney has on his blog was
given to him by me. I gave him full right to use my images.

Secondly, his site is copyrighted, as well as mine, (see the bottom of
Courtney's blog or title header of mine), so taking an image or video from
his site would infringe that copyright. So if Tom Hansen took those pics off
Dale Courtney's site, it would be just as bad as taking them from mine.

If you think Dale Courtney is misusing copyrighted material, contact him
about that. But he is not using any of my images that he does not have full
permission for.

__________

Mr. Metzler,

concerning the picture. It was not only copied without my permission, but
edited as well. It is being used in what I believe to be an unkind way
towards my school. It's one thing to have a site have CUP information, it's
another thing to use a picture of NSA with a moving truck, and a song
basicly saying "Get out!"

In short, I went to some length to get that picture (tripod late at night
during first snow in the middle of main street), and I don't want it used on
a site trying to kick my school out of town.

I'm sorry about the twenty minutes that he will have to spend taking it down
and replacing it. I spent a lot more than 20 minutes taking and stitching
those pictures.

Hi Daniel,

While I would never presume to speak for Tom Hanson, and certainly don't
claim any knowledge of internet copywrite law, I would appreciate it if
you extend your request regarding the unauthorized use of photographs to
your fellow church member, Dale Courtenay. Surely as a Christian brother
he would be receptive to your request. And, I suggest to you, purely as a
bystander, that whatever response, explanation, or action that springs
from Dale should be emulated by Tom. After all, isn't the duty (and
privelege) of Godly Kirkers to model the behavior that we should all
imitate.

Wow, the powerf of an email name is really starting to kick in.

Glad to see you you are taking an interest at so many city issues.
